Some cities try, but nothing can ever imitate or replace New York. The city is simply an irreplaceable character. And this character changes according to the season. With the start of the fall season, the city of the melting pot transforms into a magical and activity-loaded place.
And if you find yourself in the city, here are some things we suggest you can do during your lull moments in otherwise hyper city.
Be there at Open House New York 2018!
New York displays some of the most amazing architecture in the world. But many of them are barred from the public. In most days of the year, you can only appreciate these structures from afar. But there is Open House New York 2018, an annual weekend-long even wherein architectural obra maestra, historic buildings, and the most fantastic city attractions are open to the public. Free of charge! Mark your calendar! It’s on October 12-14! Most places have open access, but some require reservation, so check out their website.
Be Proud of Your Leaf Peeper Self
New York explodes in autumnal hues of brown, orange, yellow, and red. And if you’re looking for recommendations to fully experience fall, head to Brooklyn Botanical Garden or Waven Hill for some amazing views that can actually convince you to take a moment or two. There is always the ever charming Central Park. Greenwood Cemetery, Staten Island Greenbelt, and Van Cortlandt Park are some of the locals’ favorites.
How many of these have you visited? How was your experience? Do you have any recommendations for the new-in-towns?
Be Moved by the Museum of the Moving Image
Question, when was the last time you learned something new? When you got an hour or two to spare, head to the Museum of the Moving Image, the only museum in New York that is dedicated to the history, beauty, art, and science of films. This place is interactive and has a lot of learning opportunities for adults and kids alike. Are you curious of the behind-the-scenes of your favorite movie? Most likely, this museum has it. For a free admission, visit on a Friday between 4PM-8PM.

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge
One of the most ancient bridges in the United States, there is no reason for you not to dedicate some minutes to walk on this beautiful hybrid cable-suspension bridge. Do it in the afternoon when the sun dips low and casts a beautiful array of colors. It only takes thirty minutes to cross the bridge from one end to another. But why hurry, when the moment begs to be slow. Snap some photos. Take in the moment.
Enrich your creative soul at the Museum of Modern Arts
The Museum of Modern Art celebrates openness, creativity, generosity, and tolerance. Its exhibits and events are very inclusive. You can visit MoMA from 4PM-8PM every Friday for free admission. And since MoMA is committed to though-provoking contemporary art, expect to be provoked and intrigued of the arts and exhibits you encounter.
